Free Lessons

In the upcoming months, I'll be posting free video lessons - anything from tuning your guitar to playing a famous lick, to this, that or the other...

Trans-Siberian Orchestra

On Thursday night we went to see TSO at the First Mariner Arena in Baltimore. This was our 3rd year in a row and I have no intentions of missing a year because this is truly a great show.

Home Studio

I'm in the process of building a modest home studio / recording space. Nothing too fancy - you're basic 8-Track digital recorded, a few mics, some soundproofing. But regardless of the level of sophistication, the ability to be able to sit down in your own house and create (and record) music at your own convenience, whenever inspiration strikes, is completely invaluable.

More to come soon!

My Little Rock Star

This is a post from my wife from our family blog. She wasn't able to come out to the G.A.S. show on Saturday, but sent her support this way...

The Garage Allstars Band at the Town Tavern - November 7, 2009

Played with G.A.S. last night. Good show and a good time - just a shame there weren't more people out. Every now an then events conspire to challenge you, and let me tell you, playing for an almost empty house is a challenge!

Pearl Jam 10/31/09

Unbelievable show! PJ played for over 3 1/2 hours - something like 40 songs. All the classics, stuff off the new "Backspacer" album, plus some rarely or never been played before songs. Great time in Philly!

KIX - Rams Head Live - Sept 19th

[By Michelle]: Tom and I saw KIX at Rams Head Live this past Saturday night. Tom relived some of his youth while I just enjoyed the show.

The show opened with Foster Child out of Philly. First time that we'd heard them but they were actually really good. The guitar player was awesome and had some of the sweetest rock star movements and poses. Classic!!

Then it was Beretta Jane out of Baltimore. They currently have a song in rotation on 98 rock called "Die 4 U". They totally rocked and their bass player was all over the stage with amazing energy.

The Black Crowes - Rams Head Live - 30 August 2009

Went with Michelle to see the Black Crowes at Ram's Head this past Sunday.  She was really excited for it and I was looking forward to seeing them.  But apparently they have a boat-load of tunes I've never heard before.  But besides that it was a great show, they played awesome.

It was "An Evening With", so there was no opening band.  The setlist was as follows (I got this from here, because to be honest, I recognized one song outta the whole show):

The Beginnings of the Studio (and dare I say - MANCAVE)

From a post my wife posted on our personal Blog:

Tom's Man Cave

During Tom's vacation time, he's decided to finally work on his "man cave". This will be his music room... a room to play, record and teach. Together Tom and I painted the old baby blue walls & ceiling a nice gray green and painted the trim a purplish brown; we tore up the old carpet, installed a new faux wood floor, installed a new light fixture and new blinds. In this picture Tom is expressing how much he loves painting!

the Classroom Dragons' 1st CD

It's here...  the Classroom Dragons first CD has finally arrived.  I remember when I first got into that band in May of '03 we were all learning these originals so that a CD could be made.  Well here it is, a little over 6 years later and it's finally done.  If you're interested, you can order a copy of it here.

Metallica

METALLICA!!!!
Here are some pics of the show at DC's Verizon Center from our seats... the show was sold out and the place was packed with people of all ages (12 year olds to 60 year olds) and every one of them was throwing up the fist and the horns.
Here's a view from our seats (Sec 118 Row R)
